Hard right favoured to win power in Italy
100 years ago, Benito marched his band all the way to Rome.

That ended more than 20 years later with Benito and his mistress swinging from a lamppost. Which is why Hitler killed himself, he was terrified by the Russians. And believe me, if they had captured him alive, they would have fucked his shit up.
However, in the interim, there was this thing called World War II, which included stuff like Holocaust and while it killed million of Jews. The Nazis targeted Gays, Roma, Slavs, all kinds of disabled people and just about anybody who didn’t fit their racial stereotype as an Aryan. If they had a plane that could reach Martha’s Vineyard, they might have flown some there. Oh wait, sorry that’s another right-wing nut bar.
OK why this history lesson? Well, Italy is in the process of electing a right-wing coalition led by Giorgia Meloni, who parrots the usual right-wing talking points. Loss of cultural Identity, because of migration and issues with prices. By loss of cultural identity do they mean people aren’t wearing togas anymore?
According to the Guardian, Meloni’s career roots lie in fascism, much like Margaret Thatcher, the current day Tories and Donald Trump. Excuse me, I had wash my hands and disinfect my MacBook after typing that woman’s name.
Meloni’s election has sent other European Far-rightists into almost orgasmic joy.
French extremist Marine Le Pen was quoted in the Guardian
(The Italian people) “have decided to take their destiny in their hands by electing a patriotic and sovereign government”.
That’s another trope, that only right-wingers are patriotic.
However to gain office, Meloni and her right wing coalition have had to change their stripes. The question is did she pull a Boris Johnson and lie through her teeth. After all, people are still waiting for any Brexit benefits.
In interviews with other publications, especially in the US, where right-wingers are so far to the right, their boots aren’t even on the field.
She has said she is in favour of NATO (insert your own Italian military jokes) but doesn’t seem to care as much for the EU. I admit I believe the UK should rejoin the EU. It took massive lies by Johnson and the Tories and playing on the heartstrings of old white folks, who thought Brittania still ruled the waves.
Meloni adds to the growth of the far-right with Viktor Orban in Hungary. Orban, who has been in power for more than 12 years is basically an autocrat and he likes to hang with other autocrats in China and Turkey for example.
So what will Meloni do? She seems to not care for the organisation that kept Europe at peace and made it one of the best places on the planet to live. Who knows, unless she and her allies start wearing black and marching through Rome, she might not be too bad. Of course, we said the same of Johnson an
d Trump. We knew Thatcher was going to be terrible and the same with
Liz Truss.
